The Great Chattahoochee River Paint Out Make Your Plans to Participate! August 11 - 14, 2010

Professional and amateur artists gather for 3 days of painting in the beautiful Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area at Island Ford and select sites along the Chattahoochee River in Roswell.  You will find tranquility, inspiration and beauty for you and your work as you enjoy three days of on-site painting at specified locations.

A map will be provided and you will choose the location(s) where you would like to paint.  The event will be open to the public for viewing as the artists paint.

After 3 days of painting, artists will submit their work for exhibit and awards at a special show and reception on August 14.

The Great Chattahoochee River Paint out Exhibition & Reception will be held at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area at Island Ford August 14th.

RULES & REGULATIONS:

Paintings for the juried show may include river scenes, landscapes, marshes, wildlife and wildflowers along the Chattahoochee River.

  • All paintings must be executed on site, out-of-doors, during the three days of August 11 – 13.  
  • An unlimited number of pieces may be worked on during the contest dates, but only 2  pieces may be submitted for contest judging and exhibit.

Submitted pieces will be shown at a special reception on August 14. Works may be in Oils, acrylics, pastels, and water media.  No photography or non-paint media allowed.

Paint Out

Cash awards:

  • Best In Show ….. $1,000
  • 2nd Place ……  …. $  500
  • 3rd Place …   ……. $ 250
  • Honorable Mentions – at judges discretion

Entry Fee:  $35.00

DEADLINE:  No acceptances after August 1, 2010;

Restaurants are abundant throughout Roswell. Continental cuisine, down-home cooking, southern BBQ, cozy tea rooms, ice cream parlors and more. For a quick bite or a leisurely meal, Roswell is “The” place to dine.

Exhibit & Awards:

  • Only art created on-site, during the Great Chattahoochee River Paint Out, will be considered for exhibition and awards.
  • You may choose two pieces to enter in the show for judging.

Paint Out.

Artists Must Provide:

  • Prepared painting surface (Canvas, boards, paper, etc.)
  • Artwork will need to be framed suitable for hanging. Each artist must bring their own frames, mats, and supplies in order to have their work(s) ready for exhibit by 8 A.M. on August 14.
  • Although there will be special lodging fees available and special arrangements with some area restaurants, artists are responsible for their lodging and food.

Registration & Welcome Reception

  • Reception-Welcome Information on August 10th, at the Holiday Inn (Atlanta/Roswell) at 7:30 P.M.
  • Artists will pick up their information packets as they register.
  • It is a time to celebrate the Paint-Out and get to know those who are participating with you in the event. Casual attire and Refreshments Served
