Tennis Academy for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities
Free tennis lessons for adults and children with intellectual or social/behavioral disabilities.
Special Pops Tennis strives to teach tennis to individuals with intellectual disorders. Athletes will learn all 7 tennis strokes, engage in match play, and participate in fun group games. Volunteers are needed to feed shots, pick up balls, and accompany athletes throughout practice. This program is offered FREE of charge. Age range included: 6+ for athletes, 10+for volunteers. Adults and children ages 6 and over with intellectual disabilities are welcome to participate as Athletes. (We do not ask diagnoses and there are no criteria on level of disability). Any persons over the age of 10 are welcome to participate in a volunteer capacity. No tennis experience required. High school seniors who have volunteered at least 10 hours qualify for a graduation cord.
