Roswell's Canton Street has become regionally known, drawing thousands of visitors from nearby communities and those from afar. Events such as Alive in Roswell, Roswell Moves, the Roswell Wine Festival and more, bolster our downtown in solidifying its place as one of the most sought-after scenes in the Metro Atlanta area. And while the south end often gets a lot of the attention because of its makeup of restaurant and retail options within close proximity to one another, the north end shines in its own way.
In this blogpost, we highlight the amazing businesses that call Canton Street's more relaxed locale home.
Both dog and kid-friendly, Roswell Beer Market offers a massively wide variety of draught beers. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a wall of taps and a chalkboard of options that includes everything from IPAs, stouts and lagers to wheat beers, sours, hard seltzers and red ales. The laid-back atmosphere features tons of natural lighting, soft seating, high tops and semi-private meeting space. Cool off in the air conditioning inside or pull up a chair on the patio outside as you watch the north end come alive.
We'll just come right out and say it. This place needs no introduction. Jasmin and Conner, the wife and hubby duo, have done an amazing job curating a place for community that offers the absolute best in food, beverage, atmosphere and love. They say it best. Gracious Plenty serves up local, seasonal southern cooking prepared in a classically trained kitchen. The team, led by Roswell locals, is committed to serving the community by sourcing ingredients from Roswell-area farms and serving in a space where all are welcome. We'd say get there early to get a good spot, but whether you're out on the patio or dining inside, you'll be making friends in no time.
Brought to you by Clean Plate Restaurants, the group behind Lola's Burger & Tequila bar and Zest, North End Kitchen & Bar is one of Roswell's latest restaurants that serves shareable new American cuisine. North End Kitchen's expansive interior and outdoor spaces make it a great spot for a last-minute reservation. Live music is typically offered during the weekend, and its massive fireplace makes its patio a great hangout spot while you savor the night away. Favorites include the Honey Panko Salmon, Korean BBQ Short Rib and Bone-in Porkchop.
Now, this place is fun. As Tyler Allen from Lake Toxaway, NC says, "Judie Raiford is an old school designer and metalsmith - one who gets design and offers a plethora of unique merchandise you will not find in other places." Personally, we also love Judie for her personality. With over 50 years of experience, Judie works regularly with clients to create personal bespoke jewelry. Her jewelry studio is located on-site, giving customers the wonderful opportunity to peer into her work in action. Every piece of jewelry tells a story. What can Judie make for you?
A native of Tampa, Florida, Kadijah Vickers ventured up to Atlanta approximately 10 years ago in order to pursue a culinary career. The journey began with her attending Le Cordon Bleu and receiving her Associates Degree in Business and Culinary. From there she began taking various jobs within her community as a personal chef displaying her skills, as well as creating a repeat client base while building her portfolio. By chance and perfect timing, Kadijah was led to Roswell, GA, where she successfully opened up The Vick Koffee & Kocktails, offering specialty lattes that include the Campfire, Mountaintop and Sweet Lavendar. Food options include a variety of breakfast and lunch options, as well as plenty of tapas plates for sharing.
Marc Wegman: A man you need to know. The chef and proprietor of Wegman's makes no bones about it - he offers the best in authentically Cajun cuisine, serving all the traditional New Orleans favorites with a few new added twists. Located on the north end of bustling Canton Street, Wegman's is tucked right behind Raiford Gallery, adding to its Crescent City vibe. Louisiana-born, Chef Marc has more than 20 years of experience cooking up a plethora of Cajun delights that include crawfish, jambalaya, alligator, crab, pasta and more. Live music abounds in this energetic staple of the community, and plenty of open parking makes it a breeze to get in and out.
Ranier Furniture, formerly Rustic Trades, knows how to put on the wow factor. Crafting thoughtfully designed pieces for your families for over a decade, Rainier Furniture specializes in crafting handmade, high-quality furniture. In 2007, owner and craftsman Clay Adams and his wife Maggie and were on a mission to find the perfect farm table for their newlywed home. They scoured countless furniture stores, but none of the options quite fit the bill. The tables they found were either too small, too expensive, or made of cheap materials. Then came the idea. Why not build their own table? Clay promised Maggie that he would create a table that would not only meet their exact specifications, but also stand the test of time. From there, the business was born out of a passion for quality craftsmanship and a love for creating beautiful, handcrafted tables.
This no-frills local pizza joint hauls in a dedicated base of locals, many of which are Roswell's youth. With a neighborhood tavern feel, Carlisle's is straight-forward with its menu of mostly thin-crust pizzas, salads, Greek options and Italian dishes. The patio comes alive during events like, you guessed it, Alive in Roswell. Pet-friendly and adorned in cornhole boards, the outside environment has seating options that are a plenty, or guests can pull up a barstool inside and relax with a local craft beer.

So, this is the part where we venture just beyond Canton St. Owner and Chef Lazaro Tenreiro's passion is cooking and fine food. With a goal for his customers to truly enjoy authentic Cuban Cuisine at its finest, Laz offers a menu made up of the freshest, high-quality ingredients. Everything is prepared from scratch. In his own words, "My reward is beyond monetary – it is watching people enjoy everything I prepare – from the appetizers to the entrees. Growing up in Cuba, my fondest memories were large family gatherings centered on meals with family and friends. The kitchen took up a significant portion of the house. When I was a child at play with friends, I would imagine that I owned a restaurant and bar. This is a lifelong dream realized that I want to share with all of you." Favorites include the Midnight Sandwich, Cuban Sandwich, Plantain Chips with Mojo Sauce, and, of course, Arroz con Pollo.
Right next-door to Lazaro's, Roswell General is our very own general store specializing in uncommon goods. This general store connects with and serves the community with quality products, customer service and an atmosphere of family. Proprietor Bruno and his wife Julie carefully choose suppliers and strive for a fun, innovative, and ever-changing mix of quality products, gift-ideas, must-haves and purpose-driven partners. Customers can get their fix with endless Big Green Egg, Yeti, Icemule, OluKai, Breeo and Brumate products. The place is also loaded with rubs, spices, charcoals and sauces.
We'll end on another that needs no introduction, and one that's also just off Canton St. Mojo Vinyl is no stranger to Roswell's retail scene. When Rand Cabus decided to open up a record shop, he didn’t have a basement full of records to sell, so he called around to some record stores outside of Atlanta and asked if he could buy some of their back stock. He struck a couple deals and purchased 1,200 records to open with. Mojo Vinyl now exists as THE spot for vinyl in our city. When it comes to customers, Rand sees people from all over and refers to it as "vinyl tourism." According to him, "Europe and Asia are the most popular. Atlanta is a great destination for business or vacation, and a massive local market to boot."
Whether you choose to take in Canton Street's robust southern end, venture to Roswell's east side, hit the Chattahoochee River and its river parks, or dine on Hwy 92's west side, make sure to include the laid back north end of Canton Street. Just because this area has a chill vibe doesn't mean it can't pack a punch. For more info, explore throughout our website, VisitRoswellGA.com.
