Things to do in Roswell This Fall

The weather is cooling off and the leaves are falling, take the time to explore Roswell this season.

The fall weather is starting to make an appearance and with it comes a time of crunching leaves underfoot as you walk along a trail, seasonal brews, and fun festivals on the weekend for the family. Roswell is full of things to do in the fall, so check out these ideas and make your own weekend itinerary to explore Roswell this season, at your natural pace.

Walk next to the Chattahoochee River, under trees, in city parks, over creeks or in a National Recreation Area. Roswell has many trails to choose from around the city. Different trail lengths and difficulty offer a range for everyone.

Trails to Hike:

  • Big Creek Park - There is a 1.3 mile walking loop trail through the woods at Big Creek Park. Add in a walk on the paved Big Creek Greenway path for a longer walk. Mountain biking trails are also throughout the woods.
  • Chattahoochee Nature Center Trails and Boardwalk - As part of the admission to the Chattahoochee Nature Center there's six wooded trails around the 127-acre property to enjoy. Make sure you take advantage of going over bridge across Willeo Road to their boardwalk along the Chattahoochee River for amazing views and a peaceful time surrounded by nature.
  • Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area Vickery Creek Unit - Close to 5 miles of trails, this trail system can be reached via the parking lot along Riverside Road or by crossing the pedestrian bridge at Old Mill Park. Walk along Vickery Creek and through the rolling forest. Roswell Mill ruins and historical markers can be found along the path at Old Mill Park for more details on this area.
  • Garrard Landing - This quiet park has gravel paths that go around the pond and through the woods.
  • Leita Thompson Memorial Park - There is a 2.1 mile loop trail. Along the way you'll walk through the woods and by a pond. This is a popular area for birding as well, so it might be a good idea to bring the binoculars.
  • Roswell Riverwalk Boardwalk - A four-mile path along the Chattahoochee River on combination of paved paths and boardwalk sections. This trail goes through multiple city parks including Don White Memorial Park, Riverside Park, Azalea Park and Willeo Park.
  • Waller Park - This gravel path trail crosses creeks and bridges that connect to Oxbo Trail and also the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area trail.

  • La Candela Flamenco - Discover the rich musical and dance history of flamenco in connection with the music of Latin America. See it at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center on September 20.
  • Roswell Arts Festival - See hundreds of art vendors set up on the grounds of Roswell City Hall September 21 & 22.
  • Harvest on the Hooch - Annual outdoor food and craft beer festival at the Chattahoochee Nature Center on September 22. Sample bites from top local chefs and drinks from local breweries, meaderies and wineries.
  • Pixel Putt - A Mini Golf Tournament - Family-friendly mini-golf tournament designed to introduce kids to the fun of golf and spirit of philanthropy at the Computer Museum of America on September 28.
  • Big Creek Quick Six Enduro - Riders come from near and far to test their skills on six unique stages spread throughout the Big Creek Park mountain bike trail system. Come out and watch them on September 28 at Big Creek Park.
  • Roswell Wine Festival - Stroll down Canton Street, wine glass in hand and sample wines all down the street from participating vendors on September 29.
  • Roswell Ghost Tours - Hear Roswell history with a twist. This Roswell Ghost Tours occur throughout the year on weekends and nightly in October.
  • Boo Y'all Scarecrows - Canton Street will be festively lined with scarecrows September 27 - October 29. Come out for Sip & Stroll at Boo Y'all on October 20 to enjoy sips and bites from participating locations.
  • Roswell Youth Day Celebration - A day celebrating Roswell's youngest citizens. This family-fun event features a parade, an art block, touch-a-truck and fall farm days on October 5.
  • Roswell Motoring Festival - See an array of rarely seen cars, bikes, and more on October 12 at Roswell City Hall.
  • Nobuntu - The female a cappella quartet from Zimbabwe, has drawn international acclaim for its inventive performances that range from traditional Zimbabwean songs to Afro Jazz to Gospel. See this performance at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center on October 13.
  • Halloween Hikes - Take a guided hike around the Chattahoochee Nature Center with friendly characters dressed up along the way. Have fun with glow-in-the-dark games, arts and crafts, face painting, food trucks, s’mores, craft beer, wine, and a signature cocktail. October 25 - 27.
  • Take3: A Tribute to the Beatles, Billy Joel and More - Described as a mini–Trans Siberian Orchestra experience, TAKE3 pays tribute to hits by the popular artists as well as pop song favorites. See it at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center on November 2.
  • Grandiose Grape Wine Festival - Savor over 100 exquisite wines, enjoy delectable culinary creations presented by Chef Derek Dollar, and groove to the vibrant tunes of the Vibe Band at The Mill Kitchen and Bar on November 9.
  • IrishFest Atlanta - Experience Ireland's rich heritage of traditional music, song, dance, language, sport, and film November 8 - 10.
