Earl Wilson once stated, "science may never come up with a better office communication system than the coffee break." While many of the companies and businesses throughout the Roswell area certainly don’t lack in their own workroom coffee breaks, we like to think the best brew comes from our local businesses specializing in those little berries harvested from the various species of Coffea plants. Any day of the week, any time of the day, you’ll find Roswell’s local coffee houses thriving. Let’s take a look at where you can grab a fantastic cup of Joe around town.
Crazy Love Coffee House – 1088 Canton St.
Nestled in the heart of Roswell’s bustling Canton Street sits Crazy Love Coffee House. Owners Sandra and Perry Pettett opened Crazy Love in May of 2017 in order to provide for their customers a great cup of coffee and a comfortable gathering place while sharing the love of Christ. Coming from a background in building and design, the Pettetts unveiled the farmhouse’s interior as an inviting and bright environment where patrons can enjoy Belgian Liege waffles, sandwiches, salads, baked goods, ice cream, and, of course, all sorts of coffee-based beverages. The breakfast sandwich, which consists of bacon, egg and cheddar on a waffle, is absolutely mouth-watering. And, we couldn’t write this blogpost without mentioning that Crazy Love was our non-alcoholic “Best Sip” winner from 2021’s Summer Sippin’ contest. Bonus: a downstairs event space is also available for rental for study groups, birthday parties, showers and more.
Land of A Thousand Hills – 352 S Atlanta St
Sitting atop a quiet hill just seconds from downtown Roswell is the original Land of A Thousand Hills. Showcasing a beautiful patio and lawn to enjoy, LTH now offers locations throughout the metro Atlanta area and even in states that include North Carolina, Texas, Florida, Tennessee and Massachusetts. But beyond its success in expanding to multiple locations, LTH has quite the story. You see, to help create employment opportunities after the Rwandan Civil War, Jonathan Golden built the first LTH coffee washing station in the Ruli farming region of Rwanda. He also bought a 12lb primo roaster and hired a consultant to teach him how to roast beans. Today, LTH has worked with more than 10,000 farmers, selling their specialty beans to coffee lovers worldwide, supports development initiatives in farming communities, and has helped change countless lives on both sides of the Atlantic. Along with co-laboring with farmers and paying fair wages, they also work closely with farming communities in Rwanda through their Do Good Initiative projects that support locally-organized development programs.
Ground & Pound Coffee – 8420 Holcomb Bridge Rd, Ste 220
Curtis Short and Veteran Stuntwoman Sophia Crawford founded Ground & Pound Coffee in order to offer the finest coffee, tea and pastries available to their patrons. GPC specialize in coffees sourced from small, quality-focused families and cooperatives from around the world. Striving to seek out the best coffees, GPC features a variety of the best available product in the seasons in which they thrive and are at their freshest. What’s even better? GPC offers a menu made up of a variety of savory breakfast items, including their breakfast burrito, titled “The Pounder,” Bacon, Cheddar and Chive Scone, and home-baked quiche of the day. Located on the eastern side of Roswell, GPC has also become known for its MusiCafe and trivia nights.
Pop’s Coffee Company – 11444 Alpharetta Hwy
Triumph Motorcycles and coffee: two things together that typically might throw you for a loop. Not in this town! This successful coffee company came out of an idea in 2013 that began as Pop’s Garage Fabrication, which was founded on building unique custom bikes and great friendships along the way. With that in mind, the founders decided to expand to create a place that would invite even more neighbors to stop in. Now having adopted the iconic brand of Triumph Motorcycles, Pop’s Coffee Company offers one of the most unique customer experiences in Roswell. Featuring everything from Nitro brews, to Apple Chai ciders, to Cubanos and Cortados, Pop’s is a site to see. Where else can you sip a Macchiato next to a Bonneville T120?
The Vick Koffee & Kocktails – 1182 Canton St
What a story this place has. In 2021, a native of Tampa, Florida began to seek out locations to open up her very own establishment, having spent the previous 10 years in the culinary industry. Seeking out potential spots all over the North Fulton area, this married mother of two one day learned of what could be the perfect location. It was a ground-level, Canton Street-facing space within the Vickers Roswell development. The kicker? Her name is Kadijah Vickers. It was at this moment that Kadijah knew it was meant to be. Thus, The Vick Koffee & Kocktails opened to tremendous support from local Roswell residents and visitors alike. The Vick’s menu features delectable drinks, such as the specialty lattes that include the Camp Fire, Reese’s, Caribbean and Mountain Top. We won’t go into the details of each, but let’s just say marshmallows, peanut butter, chocolate, blueberry and lavender are a part of the mix. The Vick also offers breakfast and features a stacked menu of salads, sandwiches, tapas and cocktails.
Café Au Lait – 2300 Holcomb Bridge Rd
Another eastside favorite, Café Au Lait sits at the corner of a small outparcel not far from Roswell’s Centennial High School. You won’t find a website or any social media pages for Café Au Lait, but you will find a welcoming environment, cozy décor and robust menu. Café Au Lait specializes in omelets, breakfast sandwiches, waffles and French toast, but don’t underestimate the French Onion Soup, a popular option among frequent patrons. With ample soft seating and tables-a-plenty, Café Au Lait’s Cappuccinos, lattes, iced coffees and macchiatos help provide that needed early-morning wakeup or lunchtime second wind.
Roswell Provisions – 955 Canton St
We’re going to go out on a limb here and say this place probably needs no introduction. Roswell Provisions’ iconic blue bicycle sits just outside the entrance, offering a favorite photo op for passersby. Located in one of the oldest buildings in Roswell, Roswell Provisions also provides an atmosphere unmatched throughout town. Customers feel like they’ve stepped back in time, as the aroma of freshly-baked pastries and house-roasted coffee beans fills the air. A big nod to local focus, Roswell Provisions also specializes in fine wines, cheeses and meats, and carries a host of products made locally. Those include sausages, salamis, raw cheeses, goat cheeses, spreads and flavored butters. Early morning risers can be found cozying up inside on the perch near the window or taking in the city awakening from the café seating outside. Even better, Roswell Provisions’ Le Bistro, located directly upstairs, offers fantastic lunch and one of the best views of Canton Street from its historic porch. Bonus: Roswell Provisions hosts highly-sought-after and frequent wine tasting events, so be sure to follow along and mark your calendar for the next one.
